After getting tired of the bullying, he changed his name to Pi, a mathematical symbol. His family owned a zoo where his interest in animals started. Pi was born Hindu for they are Indian but as he grew up he was introduced to Christianity and Islam religions. When he was 16, his father decided to move in Canada and planning to sell the animals before they will reach Canada. They traveled via ship and after a couple of days they met a storm and it's the reason why the ship sank and all of the people inside the ship including Pi's family and the animals died but except for Pi and four other animals. Pi is the only human survivor luckily he has a life boat and with him are the zebra, the orangutan, the hyena and Richard Parker. The hyena ate the zebra and the orangutan and Richard Parker ate the hyena. After many days of being together surviving the life in the ocean, Pi and Richard Parker discovered a floating island with many meerkats and in the night it turns to a carnivorous island. The fresh water turned acidic, he saw a tooth and it was there, he knew that he would not survive on that island. The next morning he took off saved food for him and Richard Parker. As they went along, they were close to the Mexican coast where Pi is really, really weak so he passed out on the sand. Richard Parker left Pi without even glancing and other Indians saw Pi lying on the sand an rescued him. Japanese insurance agents questioned Pi what really happened but they wouldn't believe the true story Pi is telling them so Pi told another story where the cook is the hyena, the zebra is the sailor, her mother is the orangutan and him as Richard Parker.

Questions:
1. What does the title mean in relation to the film as a whole?
The Life of Pi, it talks about the life of Pi who was shipwrecked and had been living with a tiger in the middle of the ocean for many days.
2. Among the characters, to whom can you relate to?
I think I can relate to Pi, first he has three religion and he survived alone with a tiger in the middle of the ocean. That's like me, well not really like me but I just think I can relate to him. I haven't three religions but it's about the faith he has to God. I may not be a religious person but my faith is always there no matter what. He survived in the middle of the ocean alone, I haven't experienced that yet but in my problems I have, it is because I believe that in every problem, there is always a solution.

The part where Richard Parker was very weak and I thought he was gonna die. Why? Because I hate seeing people or animals die in a movie, specially when it's an animal. I hate that.
4. What is the movie's message?
For me, it's about, of course your faith and to believe that there are better things to come. It's not always about good stuffs that will happen that there are also bad stuff. Life is not fair, it wasn't always fair.

Yes, because the message that the writer wants us to see, we saw it. The movie was very touching and indeed a great message for all those people who think they are useless in this world.

I like it when Pi tries to train Richard Parker. Though, we can't really train tigers because they are very aggressive and dangerous. Well, Pi never gave up until he trained the tiger.
8. Are there any aspects of theme which are left ambiguous at the end? Why?
None. The movie was clear and understandable and the stories and connected so, no. :)
9. How does this film relate to the things that are happening in your life?
Since this movie is about faith, religion, believing in yourself you can do things if you won't give up. I can pretty much apply this. Challenges and other problems that I may encounter, I'll just remind my self that you can't really give up if there's something you can do about it. Keep moving on.
